The food in Kuantan is pretty cheap, I remember before heading back to Kuala Lumpur we stopped by this chinese restaurant to eat. It was spectacular. I don't remember the restaurant name though but the food was good and the price was right as well! The minced Chicken Tofu pictured above is to die for!
The Herbal chicken is also nice. It's easy to make this dish though, I can make it as well, my mom is quite good at making this but the restaurant did a very good job making this dish as well.
This is the yam bowl with vegetable and squid. I like the yam but squid is not really my thing especially when it's cooked all slimily!
This is the talapia (a kind of fish) cooked with the asam style, basically cooked with this tomato and chili puree with lots of lemon so it has this sour and spicy taste to get rid of this particular smell that this sort of fish has. I love the sauce though!
I will definitely go back there and I would get the name of this place again soon!

Kuantan Chinese food

Food Galore @ Swiss Garden Resort and Spa Kuantan!
I had a one night trip to Kuantan and we stayed in Swiss Garden Resort and Spa. It's a pretty decent 5 star hotel, and it's good because hotels usually talk about how peaceful it is, and well, it was really peaceful, private. I felt like the hotel was mine! So back to food, we were greeted by the General Manager of the hotel and had a chinese dinner. We left the ordering to the GM and he ordered us some shark fin soup. Pretty decent, it's not WOW food but it was good.
It was then followed by some prawns cooked with nestum and broccoli cooked with asparagus. Nothing to shout about as well but it was good.
As i said before, no one can screw up fried rice. And the chinese food in the chinese restaurant in Swiss Garden didn't screw up their food. It's nothing special but it was good as well, it will never impress me to go all the way there for chinese food but if i'm staying in the hotel, I won't be disappointed with it as well.
The chicken sausages, baked beans and chicken ham was nothing to scream about but it was okay.
I didn't like their ayam masak merah (spicy chicken) and flavored rice. Not good.
I also went to the deli and ordered myself a nicoise salad. It wasn't wow fantastic but it did satisfy me.
My dad and I got the suite room so this was the living room.
The bed room.
And the view from our room in the afternoon. I appreciated the beach so much!

The buffet spread in the morning was fairly decent as well, I like the fact that they had the egg white omelette as an option. It's good that people who are worried about their health to be able to ditch the yolk of an egg!
The porridge was also quite reasonable. My dad requested for some and it was fine. The chicken sausages, baked beans and chicken ham was nothing to scream about but it was okay.

Thai Thai @ Sunway Pyramid
So I dropped by Thai Thai in Sunway pyramid last Wednesday before heading down to Kuantan. The food there was pretty decent, and price was fair considering it's a restaurant with good ambience in a mall. Basically, the name of the restaurants says it all, they serve Thai food. My dad had the beef noodle soup and man, it was really good! My dad added some lime and chillies and I couldn't put it down, I just kept drinking the soup!
We also ordered the glass noodle served with chicken dish. Glass noodle is made out of soy apparently and is quite healthy. It was reasonable. Glass noodle wasn't really my thing.
The fried duck however, was really really good. I'm the kind of person who really loves duck, so I really liked how they did this dish instead of the usual peking duck. If i were to go back to Thai thai I would definitely order this dish again:)

Vegetarian @ Min Tien Sunway
So I was hungry after gym and decided to pop up at Min Tien. For you info, I was a vegan for about a year so know my vegetarian stuff. And they did have the Sayur Manis dish which is hard to find in KL and I really appreciated that. But as for the food, it was just mediocre. I had the fake roast pork, omelette, tofu and sayur manis. And it cost me Rm6.50. Nothing to scream about but it'll satisfy those vegetarian lovers.

Beaufort Home Cooking @ Beaufort
Beaufort is about and hour and 30 minutes drive from the capital city of Borneo, Kota Kinabalu. So I was on a road trip with my mother to visit a magical masseuse in a town near the border of Sarawak and one the way back we decided to stop by Beaufort, as the place is known for it's chinese home cooked food. The four dishes above only cost us Rm34!
This is the Pork Omelette. I think the beat the eggs until it turns foamy and then they fry it. It's really good, the inside part of the dish feels like cotton. It's so nice and flavourful! But it is a tad bit oily though!
This is the sweet and sour pork, it wasn't WOW good but it was nice. I know places that charge higher but isn't as nice as this. And, a chinese restaurant that screws up sweet and sour pork should just close down.
Im a big fan of battered prawns. And they didn't go wrong with this. I like mayo as well, and well, it's gooooooddddd, but not wow good. Wow good would be fried battered TIGER prawns. That would be awesome! But for rm34 for everything. I ain't complaining!
This is fried local vegetable with pork slices and lardy sauce. It's a staple to Beaufort cooking and I can just eat this alone. The food in general was really good, and I recommend it not because it's GOOOOODDDD but because it's value for money, however, only stop by if you are driving past Beaufort town! There are loads of these kind of places there!

Sayur Manis @ Austral Park
Sayur Manis is a local vegetable found and grown mostly in Borneo and this vegetable is very common in Sarawak and Sabah, so this dish, Sayur Manis cooked with eggs served with fried rice, topped with fried egg (yes a very eggy dish) is something I always order when Im back in Borneo because the vegetable is easy to eat and I like the taste from the fried rice. A plate like this would set you back about Rm7 and it is rather good to eat. However, this isnt the best sayur manis dish I've had, I still prefer having it in Miri Sarawak! But it's still good nonetheless!

Tamparuli Mee @ Tamparuli Town
So Sabah, which is a Malaysian state located in Borneo, is famous for several food. One of them being the Tamparuli Noodles that are found in Tamparuli, a 30 minute drive away from Borneo's capital city, Kota Kinabalu. The noodles are basically egg noodles, but it's made in a different way and the texture differs from any other noodles. This is truly a unique noodle found only in Sabah and it can be cooked in several ways (soup, fried etc). So the dish above, the Tamparuli Mee, can be found in a restaurant located next to the only bank in Tamparuli town, which is the Bank Simpanan Nasional. THe pork, eggs and vegetable they garnish this fried noodles with is just awesome, and the lard as well as the sesame oil used are also good. I can tell you that I am willing to drive for thirty minutes to have this Rm3.50 plate of heaven!

Feasting @ Asia Cafe
Yesterday was the mooncake festival so I went out to have dinner with my dad and his friend. I was quite lazy to search for a restaurant so I decided to drop by Asia Cafe in SS15, Subang. For your information, Asia Cafe is a HUGE food court with lots of variety of food available. You can basically find anything you want there! The food pictured above is the beef rice. I like how the mixed the minced beef and made it flat. The soy sauce was quite tasty as well.
My dad ordered this deep fried lobaks, It was pretty basic.
This is fried bread. With mayonaise. I had one, nothing special. Even though I love mayo~!
These are Chee Cheong Fun, it's basically chinese flat noodles. It's plain. I don't like the sauce.
Now the deep fried mushrooms are good! It came with a side of blended green chillies and man was I in love with it! This dish cost me Rm9!
The buttered pork ribs were ordinary as well. Nothing to shout about.

Chinese Food @ Bandar Sunway
There's this dodgy place run by an old married couple. I like to call this place Uncle & Aunty, I don't actually know the name of the place, but I know it's located in Pjs7 in Sunway and it's really dodgy. For those of you who are particularly particular on things like cleanliness, this place is not for you. However, the food here is quite good, The minced pork tofu (pictured above) is only Rm5.50.
The dish above is the Choy Sum cooked with Roasted pork. It's mediocre, and I must admit it's a little too salty. But I needed a dish that is green in colour. And the price is also about Rm5.50.
Now their best seller is the Butter chicken, the 'butter' sauce that they use is mostly made out of condensed milk and cream and it is quite good. I like the added green chillies and the curry leaves. It's really good especially when eaten with rice. Calories wise, well, this is a killer but it's oh so good.
Once again the cleanliness of the place is totally off.

TGIF @ Sunway again
So my dad wanted to eat at T.G.I Fridays so I just said yes (since he's the one paying). He ordered the Tacos and it tasted fair, I like how they put a lot of vegetable in it. But I've had better.
I didn't want to have the same thing twice, so instead I ordered the Chicken Caesar Salad. Very very plain. Nothing special, I would still have preferred the Shanghai Chicken salad.

Mixed Dishes @ Damansara Perdana
I had this dish this morning as I was hungry. Nothing special, cheap though! I just paid Rm4 for some fish, eggs and vegs. As compared to other places. I appreciated that the food was still warm. However, the fish was a little dry. But I can't complain much, I was hungry :S
I like the curry soup, I just paid Rm1.50 for it. It really taste very curry like. As in they didn't just use a paste from a packed. It feels very authentic. I quite enjoyed the curry, I didn't really appreciate the oil though:S

Coffee time @ Paparich Kota Damansara
So Paparich is basically like Old Town white coffee, it's a franchised establishment that serves Malaysian Cuisine. Since i'm on a no carb diet and they serve carbs there, I decided to order side dishes like the vegetarian lamb curry pictured above, i don't think the lamb is any good, not because it's fake meat, because I've had better at other places. However, to be fair, at least they have an option for vegetarians.
The otak-otak, which is basically fish cake that is steamed, is really good. I enjoyed it! Usually people would eat this with bread, but I just had it as it is. You should really try this dish, as Old town doesn't have this one!

The One @ Kota Damansara
So I met up with some of my friends at The One in Kota Damansara, it's located near Sunway Giza Mall near Papa Rich. My friend ordered the Thai Fried Rice. It's really spicy, and I like the added crumbs that they put into the dish. It was good, but it's not WOW good. It is worth the Rm9.80 though!
But the dish that I had above, which is the Salmon salad, only cost me Rm8.80. It's so good! I like how 'light' it is. And you can also eat the bowl, it's some in some cracker bowl and you can eat it! I didn't eat the bowl though. And the salad only cost me Rm8.80! Well worth it!

Dinner @ T.G.I.F Sunway Pyramid
I had a dinner date in Sunway Pyramid's T.G.I Fridays and the food was quite good. My friend ordered the Seafood Marinara and man it was good. The taste of the sauce was just nice, the spicyness is just nice and the infusion of the seafood with the sauce was really good. They were quite generous on the seafood as well. I would definitely order this again!
Sticking to my no carb diet, I ordered the Oriental Chicken Salad. I absolutely love the dressing, I think they mixed a little orange juice with some balsamic vinegar as the dressing, the grilled chicken was very good and I like the mixture of oranges and greens. The balance of sweet and salty were there and the zest definitely added some extra Emph!

Chillz @ Taylors Lakeside Campus
I only chose to eat in this little place called Chillz because my friend didn't want to walk to the commercial building. Since everything was so carbolicious, I ordered the Nasi Lemak (Direct translation = Rice Fats) without the Nasi (Rice). So I just had the lemak (Fat). The food was a little too cold for my liking but it wasn't bad, and I was pretty famished. I paid Rm7 for two pieces of chicken, two eggs and some condiments.
I tried a spoon of my friend's Fried Noodles, it was fairly decent, a little spicy, a bit bland. But what do you expect for Rm2.50?

Damn Good Pork Chop @ Damansara Perdana
Theres this Chinese Food Court between Hong Leong Bank and Ah Fai restaurant in Damansara Perdana that serves really really go pork chop! I was beyond surprised when I ate it. The marinade, the sauce, the garnish was absolutely perfect. And I only paid Rm9.80 for it. I would have paid Rm 30 for this dish and still think that it's pretty decent. So for Rm9.80, I would recommend you to try this!

Dim Sum While Waiting for Car Wash!
So you all may already know that I love my Dim Sum, it's not exactly carb free but it still beats ordering a plate of fried rice. So while waiting for my car to be washed, i dropped by this random Chinese Food Court in Bandar Sunway and ordered Dim Sum. It wasn't bad, it's just very very very ordinary. It wasn't nice either. The cost price of each plate is Rm2.30.

Curry Soup and Dimsum @ Bandar Sunway Pjs 7
So there are these dodgy apartments in Sunway City, I used to eat here every morning when I was still staying here. So since I was on my way to campus, I decided to stop by and have breakfast. I ordered the Curry Soup, with tofu and wantons. It's fairly decent but it's value for money as it only cost me Rm3. It's nothing to rave about but the price is worth it.
However, the siew mai dim sum is my absolute favorite in the shop. They bought it from some random supplier but at Rm2 a pop, it's cheap as compared to other places. I love the taste of these babies and damn I always leave with a smile on my face after having lunch here! It's seriously damn worth it for the price!
